In 2024 Rowen Street Kindergarten will opt into the Free Kinder Program*.
Families are invited to participate in the Family Payment structure to assist in covering additional costs. In 2024 the annual Family Payment (per child) is $1,125.
Sessions with Extended Hours will incur an additional fee per term. Fees for these sessions are:

3yo Butterflies : $480 per term / $1,920 annually

4yo Dragonflies : $720 per term / $2,880 annually

APPLY
Your child is over two years old and you have decided Rowen Street Kindergarten is right for your family - it's time to apply! Applications for the following year close on the last day of Term 2.
Click the button below to go to the Boroondara Council's website to apply through the Boroondara Kinder Central Enrolment Scheme (BKCES).

ACCEPT
First round offers for places go out in July. You may not receive your first preference of program straight away, however we suggest you accept this place as most families end up with their preferred program once the second and subsequent rounds of offers have been finalised.
You will need to accept your offer, make payment of the deposit, and fill out Enrolment Forms (including attaching a birth certificate and immunisation history).

ATTEND
Your child's teacher will be in contact to introduce themselves, set up a meeting and let you know about the orientation days that will take place in January - just before Kinder starts. It might also be a good time to think about whether you would like to be more involved in your child's Kinder experience and meet more parents in the community by joining our volunteer parent committee.
Kindergarten Enrolment - key dates for 2025 offer process
1 May 2024 - Kindergarten Registrations Open
30 June 2024 - Last day to register
26 July 2024 - 1st round offers
2 July 2024 - deadline for acceptance of 1st round offers
8 August 2024 - subsequent offers commence

Have Questions?
How Do I Apply?
Rowen Street Kindergarten is part of the Boroondara Kindergarten Central Enrolment Scheme (BKCES) and therefore the application and selection process is managed by them. Use the button to apply above or you can click HERE.
When Can I Apply?
Anytime from when your child turns two you can apply online with the BKCES. Please be aware, children must have turned three years old to attend Rowen Street Kindergarten. If your child will turn three during Term 1, your child will not be able to start attending until their third birthday (fees, however, are waived for this period).
Who Can Apply?
Families from any council area can apply, however residents of the Boroondara council area may have a higher allocation preference (see the BKCES page on ‘How kindergarten places are allocated’ for information on their preference system HERE).
Can We Apply For
4yo Only?
If your child has not attended the 3yo program and you would like to enrol in the 4yo program, we welcome you to apply - we offer more places in the 4yo program and are often able to include new families into our kinder and community.
Do Enrolled 3yo Children Go Automatically Into The 4yo Program?
No. You will need to update your preferences with BKCES (or check them if you applied for both 3yo and 4yo at the same time). Please also note, children in the 3yo three-day program do not automatically progress to the 4yo three-day program (and the same for the two-day program).
Can My Child Repeat 3yo Kinder?
No. There is no option to repeat 3-year-old kindergarten from 2023 onwards. Children accessing 3-year-old kindergarten will transition to 4-year-old kindergarten the following year. Read more on this HERE.
Can My Child Repeat 4yo Kinder?
A second year of a 4-year-old kindergarten program may be recommended for children with additional needs or developmental delays. Read more on this HERE.
